AC and Heating Service in Lakeland, FL

From the older bungalows around Lake Morton to the newer subdivisions off the Polk Parkway, we repair, tune up and replace heating and cooling systems across the city.

Technician with a flashlight checking an outdoor AC condenser beside a house

AC and heating service in Lakeland covers one of the widest mixes of homes in Central Florida. The city has grown out from the lakes downtown in every direction, so a single day of calls can include a 1920s bungalow near Lake Morton, a 1970s ranch home on the south side and a newer two-story house in a subdivision off the Polk Parkway. Each one asks something different of its heating and cooling system.

The homes we see in Lakeland

Older homes near downtown and the lakes often had central air added long after they were built. The air handler may sit in a closet, a utility room or the garage, and the duct runs can be small or squeezed into tight spaces. These systems work hard and benefit from careful airflow checks, because a small return or a crushed duct can make the whole system struggle.

The ranch homes built from the 1960s through the 1980s usually have the air handler in the garage or a hall closet and ducts in the attic. Many are on their second or third system, and some still run on R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer made. Newer subdivisions in the north and south of the city tend to have larger systems in the attic, often two-stage or variable-speed equipment.

Lakeland heat and humidity

Lakeland sits inland, away from the coastal breezes, and summer afternoons regularly climb into the 90s with high humidity. Air conditioners here often run from late morning until well after dark from June through September. That much running time wears out capacitors and contactors, and the moisture pulled from the air feeds algae in the condensate drain lines. Clearing the drain line is part of every visit we make here.

Winter is short and mild, but Lakeland does see a few nights near freezing most years. Heat pumps that have sat in cooling mode since spring are the ones most likely to fail on those nights.

What we do in Lakeland

  • AC repair. Warm air, short cycling, iced lines and water by the indoor unit, with a written price before the fix.
  • Heating repair. Heat pumps blowing cold, heat strips that never stop, and gas furnaces in older homes.
  • Emergency repair. Nights and weekends when the house is too hot or too cold, with the after-hours rate told to you first.
  • System replacement. New air conditioners and heat pumps sized to the house, with the permit pulled through the city or the county.
  • Tune-ups and maintenance plans. A spring cooling visit and a fall heating check, booked for you.

Book a service call

You hear the service call price when you book and get a time, often the same day in summer. If you are nearer the lakes to the east or across the county line, we also cover AC and heating service in Winter Haven and AC and heating service in Plant City.

Questions from Lakeland homeowners

  • Who issues the permit for a new system in Lakeland?

Inside city limits, the City of Lakeland's building inspection office issues the permit and inspects the work. Homes in unincorporated areas around the city go through Polk County instead. We check which applies to your address and file with that office.

  • Do you work outside Lakeland city limits?

Yes. We cover the unincorporated neighborhoods around the city too, including the areas toward Highland City, Kathleen and the north side along US 98.

  • My older home has the air handler in a closet. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Closet and garage air handlers are common in older Lakeland homes and are often easier to service than one in a hot attic. We check the drain pan and the return air path closely, since closets can starve the system of air.

    No-cool call: failed capacitor replaced

    1 day on site

An air conditioner in Lakeland running but blowing warm air on a hot afternoon. The outdoor fan was still and the capacitor that starts it had swollen. The tech quoted the part before fitting it, cleaned the outdoor coil while he was there and ran the system until the house was cooling again.

Heat pump blowing cold: defrost sensor replaced

    1 day on site

A heat pump in Lakeland that blew cool air on the first cold night while the backup heat strips ran nonstop. The outdoor coil had iced over because the defrost sensor had failed. How a visit works

From your call to the system running again, in this order every time.

  1. Book a service call

Call, text or use the form and tell us what the system is doing. You get a time and the service call price before anyone drives out, and on a hot day with no cooling we try for the same day.

  2. The tech finds the cause

We test the whole system, indoor and outdoor, not only the part you noticed. You hear what failed in plain words, and you can see the part or the reading that shows it.

  3. You get a written price

The repair price is in writing before any work starts. When the system is old enough that replacing it makes sense, you get both prices on the same page and decide for yourself.

  4. We fix it and run it

The repair gets done, the system runs through a full cycle and the tech checks the temperature at the vents before leaving, so you know it works before we go.
