Heating and Cooling Jobs, Call by Call

These heating and cooling jobs show how a service call gets written up, from the first symptom the owner noticed to the check the tech ran before leaving. They are samples made for this demo site: each one names the town, the type of system and what was found and fixed.

Repairs and replacements side by side

Most of the jobs here are repairs, because most calls end in one: a part that wore out, a drain line that clogged, a duct that came apart in the attic. A few are replacements, where the system was old enough or broke down often enough that a new one made more sense, and the owners saw both prices before they chose.

What changes from house to house

Lakefront homes in Winter Haven see more drain line and coil trouble from the extra moisture. Older ranch homes in Plant City often have long duct runs through hot attics. Lakeland has everything from closet air handlers in older bungalows to large attic systems in newer subdivisions. The scope on each job says which of these it was.

Your system next

If your system is doing something like one of these, book a service call and describe it. You hear the price of the visit before anyone drives out.

  • Technician with a flashlight checking an outdoor AC condenser beside a house
    CoolingLakeland

    No-cool call: failed capacitor replaced

    1 day on site

An air conditioner in Lakeland running but blowing warm air on a hot afternoon. The outdoor fan was still and the capacitor that starts it had swollen. The tech quoted the part before fitting it, cleaned the outdoor coil while he was there and ran the system until the house was cooling again.

  • Heat pump beside a brick house in a green garden
    Heat pumpWinter Haven

Old heat pump replaced and sized to the house

    1 day on site

A heat pump in Winter Haven near the end of its life that had needed three repairs in two seasons. The quote put the repair price beside the replacement price, and the owners chose to replace. The new system was sized from the house, not the old label, set level on a new pad and connected with new lines, and the old unit was hauled away with its refrigerant recovered.

  • Gloved hands servicing the controls of a gas heating unit
    HeatingLakeland

Heat pump blowing cold: defrost sensor replaced

    1 day on site

A heat pump in Lakeland that blew cool air on the first cold night while the backup heat strips ran nonstop. The outdoor coil had iced over because the defrost sensor had failed. The sensor was replaced at the quoted price, and the tech ran a full defrost cycle and checked the strip heat before leaving.

  • Exposed ductwork and a supply vent on a dark ceiling
    DuctworkPlant City

Leaky attic ductwork sealed so the far rooms get air

    2 days on site

Two back bedrooms in a Plant City ranch home that stayed warm all summer however low the thermostat went. The attic ducts to those rooms had separated at two joints and leaked along their seams. The joints were reconnected, every seam was sealed and the airflow was measured at each vent before and after.

  • Heat pump outside a modern white house with shrubs
    CoolingLakeland

Central air replaced, with the permit pulled

    1 day on site

An air conditioner well into its second decade with a failing compressor. The written quote listed the equipment, labor and permit on separate lines, with a repair price beside it. The new system went in over one day and passed its inspection.

  • Ductless mini-split unit mounted high on an indoor wall
    Heat pumpWinter Haven

Ductless mini-split for a room with no ductwork

    1 day on site

A converted garage in Winter Haven with no ductwork that was too hot in summer and chilly in January. A ductless mini-split now heats and cools it on its own, with its own remote and no new ducts through the house.

  • Close-up of a technician testing an AC condenser coil for leaks
    CoolingWinter Haven

Water by the indoor unit: drain line cleared

    1 day on site

Water pooling by the indoor unit of a lakefront home and the system shutting off on its own. The condensate drain line had clogged with algae and tripped the safety switch. The line was cleared and flushed, a cleanout was added and the pan was checked for cracks.

  • Digital thermostat on a wall
    HeatingPlant City

Fall tune-up and a new thermostat

    1 day on site

A fall tune-up on a gas furnace in Plant City that ran fine but cycled on and off all day. The burners and flame sensor were cleaned, the safety controls were tested, and an old thermostat that misread the room was replaced and set up with the owners.
